Studio News - June 2026
Hi Dancers,
Welcome to June! A few updates to share this month, so settle in and read on.
Pride Month at 6P!
We are celebrating Pride Month in style this June and there are two very fun things coming up that you won't want to miss!
First up, Rainbow Rodeo on Friday 20th June at Mitchell Studio 2! Chloe is bringing her best western flair and a whole lot of rainbow energy for a Line Dancing class in honour of Pride Month. Whether you're a seasoned boot-scooter or have never attempted a grapevine in your life, this one is for everyone. Come as you are and come ready to have an absolute blast. You can book your spot here: Rainbow Rodeo.
And over in Thursday Beginner Jazz, we are spending the month learning a little disco number in the spirit of Pride, with a fun group video planned for the end of June. Watch our socials for that one because it is going to be joyful! Sign up to start from this Thursday!
Pride Month is a wonderful reminder of exactly what we stand for at 6P: a space where every dancer belongs, exactly as they are. We love you all!
Our Culture and Values
Speaking of, I wanted to take a moment this month to talk about something that is really important to me, and everyone on our team. As our gorgeous community grows, it's timely to remind everyone that 6th Position is a space where every adult dancer is welcome.
Regardless of your level, your background, your age, your body, or how long you have been dancing, you belong here. That goes for brand new beginners stepping into their very first Foundations class, right through to our most experienced dancers. It also goes for dancers returning after years away, those working through injury, and those who are simply trying something new for the very first time.
We are an inclusive studio and we are committed to making every person who walks through our doors feel seen, respected, and included. Our teachers work hard to create that environment in every single class, and we ask that students extend the same warmth to one another.
If you ever feel like something is not quite right, please speak with your teacher. And if you see a new face in your class looking a little nervous, a smile and a kind word can mean the world.
Nutcracker Tickets On Sale
I'm excited to announce that tickets for The Nutcracker In July are now on sale! If you have family and friends who would like to come and support our incredible cast, now is the time organise your seats with them before they sell out.
We are so proud of everything our dancers have put into this production and we cannot wait to share it with you all. Our matinees will continue to offer sensory-friendly sessions to those with little ones and those who need a little extra care with slightly quieter music. We also have a Social Story which may assist these guests. More details and tickets are available via our website!
Anonymous Feedback
As many of you know, I introduced an anonymous feedback option via our website contact form a little while ago. After a trial period and some reflection, I have made the decision to discontinue this option.
While I genuinely welcome all feedback, including critical feedback, I have found that anonymous submissions often don't give enough context to actually resolve the matter being raised. Without being able to follow up with a person, the team and I are limited in how meaningfully we can respond or make changes. We want to do right by our students, and the honest truth is that we can do that so much better when we know who we are talking to.
If you have something you'd like to share, please reach out to us directly at studio@6thposition.com.au or speak to me or your teacher at the studio. We promise to always listen with an open mind and respond with care. If you wish to raise something particularly sensitive, I have a Director Inbox available too: director@6thposition.com.au
Schedule Updates
A couple of changes to our Saturday and Sunday timetable to flag:
Pre-Pointe on Saturdays and Sundays has been cancelled due to low sign-ups. We always need a minimum of four students for drop-in classes to run, and unfortunately the numbers just haven't been there for these classes. Never fear though: Wednesday evening's Pre-Pointe following Beginner Ballet is still available!
Following a poll in our private Facebook Group, Beginner Ballet on Sundays will now move to 10am as a result of Pre-Pointe being cancelled. It's late enough to have a little sleep-in but still early enough to get on with your day. Thank you to everyone who voted and to our lovely teachers, Lauren and Danielle who are willing to adjust their schedule.
Intermediate/Advanced Ballet on Saturdays will be moving to 11am on 4th and 11th July to accommodate Beginner Pointe being paused over the school holiday period. Please make a note of this in your diary if it affects you!
Daytime Classes Reminder
A quick but important reminder: if you are planning to attend any daytime class, please make sure you have booked in the night before at the latest. This allows teachers to plan and ensures classes are not cancelled due to insufficient numbers when they could otherwise have run. It makes a big difference to our small team, so thank you in advance!
2026 Concert Theme!
And now what everyone has been waiting for... this year's concert theme will be:
Of Myth & Magic
Think fables, fairytales and famous legends. There are also some changes in store that I think you are going to love. We have heard your feedback from previous years and will be addressing a number of things in our dedicated concert communications, which are coming very soon. Keep an eye on your our socials, and website for all the details. It is going to be a big one!
Thanks for reading, and as always, happy dancing!
