HUGE Congratulations to our R.A.D. Examinees!

A well deserved congratulations to all of our students who sat their R.A.D. examinations on Friday! Putting yourself forward for an exam as an adult dancer takes real courage and commitment, and you should all be incredibly proud. A big thank you as always to Caitlin, Leah, Jess and Carys for their dedication in preparing you so thoroughly. We can't wait to hear your results!

Nutcracker 2026 Cast — You Did It!

What an incredible four shows! Watching our Nutcracker cast perform this year was one of those moments that reminds me exactly why I do what I do. To every single member of our 2026 cast, from the corps to our principal roles: you were absolutely magnificent. The hours of rehearsal, the nerves, the commitment: it all showed on that stage. Please take a moment to congratulate one another when you're next in class, because you've done something truly special together.

The Forage Performers — What a Day!

A massive congratulations to our wonderful performers who took to the stage (grass) at The Forage recently! Representing 6th Position at live events is no small thing, and you all did us so proud. Thank you for bringing your energy, your artistry, and your joy to the audience. We love seeing our dancers shine outside the studio walls and make happy memories for others.

Staffing Changes

Juliet

This past Saturday we said goodbye to our beautiful Juliet Aitken. Wonderfully for Juliet, her day job is expanding but her time outside the office is limited. She will still be around for covers and dancing, so hopefully we still get to enjoy her friendly demeanour and gorgeous combinations.

Astrid

On Tuesday 25th August we will say “see you soon” to our incredible Astrid Rodger, and I don't think there will be a dry eye in the studio. Astrid will be taking a leave of absence to give birth and get used to that new mum life.

Astrid has been such a special part of our teaching team and our community, and we are so grateful for every class, every correction, and every warm smile she brings through our doors. We will miss her enormously but wish her all the best for the safe arrival of her little one.

Astrid: we are cheering you on from the studio! You’ve got this!

We’re Hiring!

As you may have seen on our socials, we’re hiring ballet teachers! We are looking for talented, passionate ballet teachers to join our gorgeous team. If you know someone who would be a wonderful fit for 6P: warm, skilled, and excited about teaching adult dancers of all levels, please send them our way at studio@6thposition.com.au. We'd love to hear from anyone who shares our love of this community. I’m thrilled to already be interviewing four teachers this week - so watch this space.

RAD Grade 3 — Now Open Again!

Great news for anyone who has been waiting to jump into RAD Grade 3 — enrolments are now back open since the R.A.D. exams are completed! Grade 3 is a wonderful enrolment class for students who have completed Ballet Foundations or have a beginner ballet background and are ready to explore a structured syllabus.

If you've been on the fence, now is the perfect time to dive in. Head to the enrolment sign-up page on our website or get in touch if you have any questions.

A reminder that our other RAD classes also opened again this term to new students including Grade 4 (Adv. Beginner to Elementary level) Grade 7 (Intermediate level) and Advanced 2 (Advanced students only).

Daytime Classes — A Reminder

A gentle but important reminder: please make sure you are booking your daytime classes the evening before rather than on the morning of class. This allows our teachers and admin team to plan accordingly and ensures the class is secured.

Classes with low bookings can be at risk of cancellation, so booking in advance really does make a difference. It only takes a moment in the Momence app — we appreciate it so much!

Upcoming Opportunities
Floriade — Enrolments Now Open!

Enrolments are now open for our Floriade performance opportunity! This is always one of the highlights of the year and places fill up quickly, so don't sit on this one.

This event is very beginner-friendly and feels “lower stakes” than concert for the newbies. Plus there’s no crossover with concert, so if you wet your feet, realise you LOVED it (as people every year tell me), then you can sign up for concert too!

So secure your spot - we’re starting this week! We would love to have as many of you involved as possible. It truly is one of the most joyful things we do together as a community.: Because is there anything better than picnics, flowers and dancing in warm Spring weather?!

Concert Enrolments Opening!

I am so excited to let you know that concert enrolments for Of Myth and Magic will be opening on 23rd August! Save the date!

This is always one of the most anticipated moments of the year so keep an eye out for the concert info - you will not want to miss it. Start thinking about which classes you'd love to perform in, and get ready to sign up!

And finally… Dance Canberra is live now just for YOU!

We are SO excited to finally unveil something we've been working hard to bring to our adult dance community following our successful grant application with the ACT Government. On 22–23 August at 6th Position’s Northbourne Studio, we will be hosting the biggest masterclasses weekend in Canberra history!

It's always been a dream of ours to create more opportunities for adult dancers to learn from the best without having to travel interstate, and seeing this come to life feels pretty magical.

Train with incredible artists including Stephen Tannos, JW Murray, Matthew & Annelies Bindley, Demi Jenkins, Dylan Bull, Jasmin Durham and Halimah Kyrgios!

Explore masterclasses in Ballet, Pointe, Neo-Classical Repertoire, Tap, Jazz, Broadway Jazz, Commercial, and Contemporary. Whether you're a beginner building your confidence or an experienced dancer looking to be inspired, if you're 16+, we'd love to welcome you.

Aaaaand if you’re reading this studio news you get EARLY ACCESS! Tickets and the schedule are live now via this link only for 6P students! They will go out to the public tomorrow at 6pm so book your places now!

Please note that all regular classes at Northbourne during this weekend will NOT run. If you normally attend a Mitchell weekend class and will be at this amazing festival instead, please let your teachers know (they probably want to go too!).
