Studio News - October 2025

Hi Dancers!

Another busy month which means the October news comes out today instead! On World Ballet Day no less… totally intentional I swear.

Thanks A Bunch!

Crafternoon

This month saw our concert efforts start to take shape with our first ever Concert Crafternoon! In a mad four hours, we had eleven people sewing and eight people including myself, pinning, hot glueing or cutting. A big thank you to those who came and participated. We got SO much done and it was a heap of fun. I sincerely appreciate your time and efforts. I hope that when you watch our show, you can feel proud of your creations!

Parking Petition
Another huge thank you to those who signed the petition to reopen the Theatre Lane carpark. At the most recent meeting of the City Construction Information Group, it became clear that many other businesses are unhappy with the closure of the roads AND the carpark that is happening next to our Northbourne Studio.

Worst of all this was done without consultation and has left no accessible parking for nearby businesses. As a result, a petition and letters to local members was started.

You can still contribute to them and if you haven’t already - please do! We are gaining some momentum. On Thursday afternoon, Elizabeth Lee MLA requested a motion in the ACT Legislative Assembly calling on the Government to adopt a partial access model for the Theatre Lane car park, in line with the petition.

This is proof that there is a voice in our numbers, so please share with your family and friends! I’ll provide more information as soon as I know it.

What’s On?

Spooky Fun

Back by popular demand, there’s still a few spaces left in the Rainbow Rodeo at 5pm tonight!

A beginner-friendly, queer-friendly, line-dancing class with a haunting twist for Halloween! Come dressed in your creepiest cowboy fits or just come as you are and join the ghostly groove. A comfy pair of boots or sneakers will keep you stompin’ to some killer country bangers all night long. Book in at Studio 2, Mitchell for $25 or use one of your class passes/memberships!

Classical Repertoire Course

Belle Smalley will be providing us with a two-week repertoire course for November to satisfy our ballet fix till we can get to the stage!

Come learn the Second River Variation from The Pharaoh’s Daughter. This course will be aimed at our Intermediate to Advanced dancers and is welcome to be completed en pointe - if you’re game!

Book in for one or both the 7th and 14th of November with your regular class passes!

Private Dance Lessons

Tatiana is available for private lessons in ballet and pointe on Tuesday afternoons again (3:45-6pm at Mitchell) for anyone wanting to set some goals for themselves.

For other dance styles, I’m also happy to announce that we will be running the Summer Series again over the Christmas/New Year period so if you’d like private lessons in jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, musical theatre, hip hop or heels, let us know!

Merch Giveaway Winner!

I know you’re all keen to hear the winner of our new 6P Bag! So without further ado, please congratulate Chloe Mackrell!

A big thank you to those who participated in our Google reviews and to those who had already written reviews before our giveaway. I can’t thank you enough for your kind words.

And to Chloe who has already helped us so much in the short time she’s been with us… thank you for the review that brought tears to my eyes! I’m so glad you have found the 6P community to be all that we aspire to.

Quality Business Awards

Speaking of reviews, you may have seen on our socials that we have been awarded both the Best Dance Studio AND the Best Ballet Studio in North Canberra, ACT for 2025!

This incredible recognition wouldn’t be possible without our amazing community — these awards are based on an algorithm of online reputation, customer feedback, and Google reviews.

On behalf of the entire team, thank you! We’re all so pleased to continue to offer adults a safe space to challenge themselves and be creative.

Dancewear News!

Some exciting news from the ladies at Attitude at Mitchell… they’ve recently been approved to be stockists for Gaynor Minden Pointe Shoes!

Possibly available as soon as December 2025, pointers will no longer have to travel to Sydney to try the elusive shoes! Please ensure you’re always making an appointment with Mary for a fitting.

2026 Schedule

In exciting news, I’ve already started working on the studio timetables for next year. Your teachers have all provided their feedback and availability so now it’s just up to me to make it work!

If there’s a particular class you’d like to see in our offerings or just at a certain studio, now is the time to let me know! I can’t promise to please everyone but I do try my best and if enough of you write in for a particular class, our team can make it happen!

That’s all for now folks! Don’t forget to book tickets to Carnivale and cheer your dance besties on. I think this may be our best concert yet!
