Access & Inclusion is important to us as 6th Position. Some of our staff members manage life with a disability and we are always keen to hear more ways we can make The Nutcracker In July a more accessible event for you.

Contact Us
If you need assistance booking tickets you can email or phone us. We accept the Companion Card as part of our concession rates. If you have any complaints you wish to raise, you can email or phone us.

Our social story contains photos of the foyer and the accessible toilet. When booking tickets, you can view the seating plan of the theatre. Please note, Row A is at ground level (not ascending stairs) and is for those who have mobility issues or use a wheelchair and their families. If you require assistance to book this row and it is sold out, please contact us via phone or email.

Facilities
Accessible parking spaces are available at the front of the theatre. The foyer, toilets, candy bar and entrance to the theatre are all at ground level. On the day any of our friendly ushers in a Nutcracker t-shirt will be happy to assist you with accessing the facilities correctly.

Our website contains pre-show information on how to get to the venue and what to expect.

Signs will be available around our foyer detailing the various activities or menu for the Candy Bar. If you need assistance at any point, our friendly ushers will be happy to help you.

Candy Bar items will have ingredients listed with GF and DF options.

A quiet space is available in the far corridor with cushions and fidget toys. The foyer is one big open space so if the noise is still not quiet enough for you, we recommend stepping outside briefly.

Hearing
The theatre we hire has a hearing loop available for patrons who use a hearing aid. Please advise us in advance if this is something you will be using.

Our sensory-friendly show on Saturday 19th July will include a Auslan interpreter for when the narrator reads the story aloud.

Children
Our matinee shows have been created with young children in mind. These shows will see a 30 minute interval and activities for children: a photo station, dress-up station, meet & greets with the principal dancers, a colouring-in competition sponsored by Dendy Cinemas Canberra, a quiet corner with sensory toys, take-home souvenirs and themed snacks for purchase.

Sensory-Friendly
The matinee show on Saturday 19th of July will be a sensory-friendly session, with quieter music, low house lights and no snap blackouts to accommodate anyone with sensory sensitivities. The activities listed above for the matinee shows will still be available. During intermission, a quiet corner with fidget toys is on the far opposite corridor of the foyer.

The sensory-friendly show will also include a narration of the ballet with an Auslan interpreter.

How To Get There & Parking

Opposite is Eddison Park and Playground.

A carpark is available in front and to the right of the theatre if you are facing the building. Accessible car parking is also available.

NOTE: Each Sunday morning the car park is occupied by the farmer’s market. Whilst this should be concluded by the time of our matinee shows, we encourage patrons to arrive early to find a park.

There is a bus stop on Launceston Street directly in front of the school. The College is also connected via the C4 bike route City to Tuggeranong via Woden.
